I started breeding Samoyeds (dogs) in 2007 and have continued throughout my life. I started breeding Maine Coons about four years ago. I've always been a huge cat person and most of my life rescued abandoned kittens and cats from the animal clinics I worked at. The only downside was I wanted to keep them all, especially the kittens. They started adding up quickly! I had to learn to say no and actually re-home many of them. I started breeding as a compromise in life, I always had kittens to play with and love on and then sent them to their new homes. Not an easy thing to do by any means! You end up loving them all. I've loved Maine Coons for a long time and admired so many that came into my work. I started doing research on the breed, health issues, how much different was breeding cats compared to breeding dogs.....by the way WAYYYYYY different haha. After a ton of research on them, research on food and nutrition, diseases and how to keep a cattery from getting and spreading things, I finally adopted four Maine Coons from Europe. Valmont, our main stud, Smoke, who makes the best kittens with Valmont, Calamia our Torbie (Tortie/Tiger) female and Urmala our white female. Urmala has since been retired and I've added new too.
I started this whole business on my own just like I did the Samoyeds. It's me who built it, manages it....I do all of it.
I work at an animal clinic in our reproductive department which was a dream job to me. It goes hand in hand with breeding and has made me learn so much more!
Animals have been my whole life and will always be!
